Mercedes Car Insurance

Known for being the maker of quality luxury cars, Mercedes enjoys a popular following across the globe. Mercedes Benz is also one of the oldest car makers in the market as it can trace its existence back to Karl Benz, the inventor of the automobile in the late 19th century.

In the world today, Mercedes Benz is considered to be firmly established within the luxury car sector, offering a successful mix of sleek styling, powerful engines and high quality interior finishes.

Mercedes Benz can also boast an excellent reputation in the field of motor sport. The German marque currently enjoys an extremely successful association with Maclaren in Formula 1 and the AMG-Mercedes C-Class has also delivered several recent championships for the company in DTM (considered to be the most prestigious touring car championship in the world).

The current Mercedes car line is stacked with a bewildering number of saloons, sports coupes, sports cars and multi-purpose vehicles. The smallest car in the German marque’s portfolio is the A-Class. Priced from just under £14,000, the A-class is Mercedes’ popular compact family car. There is a vast array of models to choose from in the A-Class range, with engine sixes of 1.5L to 2.0L in both petrol and diesel types. The A-Class falls between insurance bands 5 and 14.

The Mercedes Benz B-Class is the company’s larger family car offering. The 5-door B-Class costs from £17,500 to £23,500 and is available with either a 1.5, 1.7 or 2.0L petrol engine or a 2.0L diesel engine. The spacious B-Class sits between insurance bands 7 and 14.

The flagship saloon of the Mercedes range is the C-Class. The brand new C-Class is the most modern of the Mercedes line, sporting the new squarer headlights that will define the Mercedes look going forward. Available in saloon, estate and coupe versions, the classy C-Class costs between £23,000 and £50,000. Both petrol and diesel engines are supplied in capacities stretching from 1.8L to a muscular 5.4L. Entry level C-Class’ fall into insurance band 12, while the top of the range models occupy the top bracket (20).

The slightly larger E-Class is the first in Mercedes comprehensive range of executive saloons. The E-Class is available as a saloon or estate with engines of 1.8L to 6.2L. The sleek and business-like E-Class costs between £27,800 and £69,000 and sits in insurance bands 15 to 20.

Mercedes’ top of the range executive saloon is the S-Class model. Boasting chauffeur car proportions and a luxurious finish, the Mercedes S-Class is a prince among executive vehicles. Offered only in saloon form, the S-Class’ price tag starts from £56,800 and rises to £145,500. The executive S-Class occupies the top three insurance bands.

Perhaps best described as cross-over vehicles between Mercedes’ saloon and sports car ranges, the CLK-Class (coupe or convertible), 4-door CLS-Class coupe and CL-Class coupe are something to behold. Muscular yet sleek and sophisticated in their look, the CLK, CLS and CL are stand out vehicles in the coupe class.

From £44,000, the CLS offers the best of a coupe car but with the almost unique feature of having four doors. Meanwhile, at £79,600, the CL is every bit an executive coupe star. The CLS is covered in insurance bands 18 to 20, while CL only occupies the very top band. However, those with a more limited budget can opt for the also excellent CLK. The CLK costs from £30,000 and sits in insurance bands 16 to 20.

Mercedes’ sports car stable includes the SLK-Class, SL-Class and the sumptuous SLR. The SLK is the German firm’s compact sports roadster, costing from £28,500 to about £50,000, this funky Mercedes pocket rocket comes with a choice of four engines and is insured in bands 16 to 19. The slightly more grown up SL offers Mercedes sports car class as standard. It costs from £63,800 to £150,000 and it sits in insurance band 20.

And the outstanding SLR is nothing short of the jewel in the Mercedes crown. With exquisite styling that harps back to the silver bullet days of 1950s Mercedes, the SLR is as good looking as it is a fantastically engineered vehicle. Two SLR models are available, the £317,000 coupe and the £332,000 roadster. Both naturally occupy insurance band 20.

Finally, completing the impressive Mercedes range is the firm’s large car offering. For £36,000 customers can buy Mercedes’ SUV option, the M-Class, while for the same money, the auto outfit’s specialist estate model, the R-Class is available. Last, but not least, the GL-Class is the off-road Mercedes, yours for around £50,000. The M-Class falls into insurance bands 16 to 20, while the other two sit in bands 18 to 20.
